Mr. Paul Mwaniki Gachoka is the Founding Partner at MG Law Advocates (Formerly Mwaniki Gachoka & Co Advocates). He obtained his Bachelors of Law Degree (LLB) (Hons) in 1990 and was admitted to the bar on 22nd August 1991. Mr. Mwaniki has extensive experience in representing clients in multi-disciplinary commercial, conveyancing services & civil cases. He has handled various precedent cases. MG as he is fondly referred to in the office, began his legal career as a pupil in 1991 at the law Firm of Riunga Raiji & Co Advocates. Two years into practice, he took the bold step of establishing the law firm- Mwaniki Gachoka & Co Advocates. Starting out as a litigation and conveyancing legal practitioner, Mr. Gachoka has overseen the firm’s expansion to its current status as one of the leading medium sized Law firms in the country. He is currently on leave of absence, serving as a judge in the Court of Appeal.
Outside his legal practice MG is an ardent golfer. He has a deep interest in the development and growth of the game in the country and has served the sport in different leadership capacities over the years.
MG is a keen philanthropist involved in initiatives aimed at giving back to the society; He serves in the board of various schools and also supports several needy students through paying their school fees. Mr. Gachoka is a member of the Men of St. Paul’s Church (University of Nairobi Chapel)
With over 27 years of experience in continuous private legal practice, Mr. Gachoka is widely regarded as an exceptional Litigation Advocate, Conveyancer and Arbitrator with broad knowledge in handling complex and delicate legal matters Mr. Gachoka is a sitting Commissioner at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (E.A.C.C) a position he was appointed to in January 2016. He is also a Member of the Dispute Adjudication Board for the Olkaria Geothermal Project since 2013.
He has previously held the positions of; Chairman of the Restrictive Trade Practices Board and Chairman of the Public Procurement Administrative Review Board (PPARB) - where he was involved in drafting the Public Procurement and Disposal Regulations (2006) & handling of the Public Procurement Appeals. He was also a member of the Public Procurement Complaints Review and Appeals Board (PPCRAB) and a Council Member of the Law Society of Kenya (2003 to 2006).
Mr. Gachoka is also an accomplished legal scholar. He has written and presented papers touching on public procurement and other thematic issues that have mainly focused on; Improvement of corporate governance in public bodies, enhancement of transparency and accountability in public procurement & creating awareness of public procurement dispute mechanisms.
