A structured introduction to legal practice — court-ready, client-aware and professionally grounded from admission.
Each year, the firm engages students from the Kenya School of Law to undertake the mandatory six-month pupillage programme. Pupillage at Mwaniki Gachoka & Co. Advocates is a structured, immersive introduction to the realities of legal practice — not a passive observational exercise.
Trainees are embedded within active practice departments and work under the direct supervision of the Partners. Exposure is deliberately broad: court hearings across superior and subordinate courts, client consultations and case strategy sessions, preparation of pleadings, submissions, correspondence and legal research, and practical familiarity with the Land Registry, Companies Registry, Probate Registry and other government offices.
Trainees are given real work, real responsibility and real feedback. Many of the firm’s current Associates began their careers as Trainee Advocates here.
The firm’s culture of internal development ensures advocates are aligned with our values — Perfected Performance, Practical Solutions, Partnership and Persuasive Advocacy — and proven in their disciplines.
Opportunities may arise for associate roles, legal assistants and support positions. Speculative applications are welcome where they demonstrate a clear interest in our practice areas.
Send a concise covering letter and curriculum vitae to mgachoka@mglawadvocates.co.ke, marked for Careers / Pupillage. Please state whether you are applying for pupillage or another role, and your preferred practice area where relevant.
